Itinerary - 10 Day Cape York - Accommodated Safari

Day 1: Welcome aboard - we will pick you up from your accommodation in Cairns before departing on your adventure of a lifetime. Our trip this morning takes us up and over the Kuranda Ranges through Mareeba, Mt Molloy, Mt Carbine and on into Lakeland Downs where we will stop for morning tea at the famous Lakeland Coffee House. From here we head down to the historic township of Cooktown and our accommodation for the night. *(L / D / En / Laund)
Day 2: This morning the sealed roads end and our outback adventures begin. Our next stop is Split Rock art site, an epicentre of Aboriginal rock art before heading to the small township of Laura where we visit the Quinkan Aboriginal Cultural Centre. We then travel into Lakefield National Park, Queensland's second largest at 537,000 hectares (1.25 million acres). Water lily covered billabongs, wildlife, a great variety of birdlife, and hopefully some fresh water crocodiles, makes for a memorable day before arriving at the century old Telegraph Station and now working cattle station of Musgrave, our overnight stop.

Day 4: From Moreton we travel north along the Overland Telegraph Line, through numerous creek crossings, before arriving at Heathlands Nature Reserve. Day 5: Today it is off to Cape York. An unforgettable day! Stand at the very 'Tip' of our continent. We follow with a fascinating visit to the beautiful Lockerbie Scrub - an isolated pocket of monsoon rainforest, on our way to historic Somerset and the ruins of the grandiose failed Singapore of the Pacific on the Albany Passage; a place to ponder the past, our explorers, pioneers and the Cape's traditional owners. Drive along pristine beaches, rocky headlands, explore cool shaded forest walks and end the day with a twilight stroll to watch another spectacular Torres Strait sunset.
*(B / L / D / Sb / Laund) - upgrade to (En) available.
